How can i fix my Xbox 360's Red ring of death without towels sending it back, having to pay or taking it apart?

Q. How can i fix my Xbox 360's Red ring of death without towels, sending it back, having to pay or taking it apart?
I will try out any sites that you reccomend.

A. So you want to fix somthing broken without doing anything?

It won't work. The problem you encouter is the following:
The old Xbox models have a too weak heatsink for the GPU built in.
The GPU overheats and warps the board underneath, causing the GPU to lose contact with the mainboard.

The only way to get this resolved is by getting it repaired for free by Microsoft support.

The towel trick will do nothing, and you can't do anything yourself. Even the X-Clamp fix won't do it for long.

So just call the toll free Microsoft hotline, and get your console repaired for free.

Is xbox 360 repair free if you have red rings?
Q. My xbox 360 has the red rings of death and I heard that if you have red rings it's free is that true? And what do you need to send with your 360 for repair?

A. As long as your system was first bought within the past 3-years, and the Silver Warranty sticker hasn't been damaged, you can get a free repair for the RRoD and E74 (that's the 3-ring error and the one ring with E74 on the screen). Though the 3-years thing seems to not be as much of a problem since my friend got it repaired past that point for free.

Do NOT send anything besides the system as it is almost guaranteed that you will never get that stuff back. I've seen way too many people on here asking about how to get their stuff after Microsoft 'steals' it, despite the fact that Microsoft tells people multiple times to not send anything besides the system.

Can I still send in my xbox 360 with red ring of death error?
Q. Ok, my friends xbox 360 got the red ring of death, he bought it on launch day and just broke awile ago. Hes rich so be bought a new elite system and gave me the broken one. I dont have the receipt for it and it still has the seal. Can I still send it into microsoft to get it fixed? And how would I do that?

A. First, try out the troubleshooting steps for 3 red lights.

1.) check the power supply light when it's on. If it's green, it's fine. Amber, it means the power supply needs to be replaced.

2.) REMOVE ANY INTERCOOLERS.

3.) Plug directly into the wall. no surges, they can cause damage to your 360 since there's already a surge built inside.

Is those don't work, you need to get your console repaired by Microsoft (1-800-4my-xbox). Since there's a 3 year warranty on 3 red lights, everything will be covered ^_^
