Q. Well, I just purchased a XBOX 360 for my 10 years old nephew, but I don't know how to connect XBOX 360 to the Internet. How do you connect X BOX to the Internet? Do you need to buy any accessories before playing online? Do you need to pay subscriptions(money) for every month?

A. Your Xbox 360 should have come with an ethernet cable just plug that into the ethernet port in the back or your 360 and then into your router.
If you have a wireless router, you can buy a wireless receiver for your 360 as well.
There is a subscription fee for a Gold Xbox Live membership which allows you to play online any time. It cost $49.99 for a year or $7.99 a month.
You automatically have a silver membership when you create a profile for live, but there are restriction on when you can play online and what games you can play online, but you can still get downloadable content. Keep it well ventilated they tend to over heat. Hope this helps.

The you can only save game data to an Xbox 360 hard drive or memory unit.. The Xbox 360 Arcade comes with a 256MB memory unit which you can use to save games.. you can connect other USB based storage devices (flash drives, hard drives, iPods) to the Xbox 360 but you cannot save to those devices.. you can only use the Xbox 360 to play the media files (video, music and pictures) on the devices.. There are some third party USB cables which are supposed to let you connect a Xbox 360 hard drive to your computer and let you copy files back and forth but this is borderline hacking and could get you into trouble.. Microsoft has been cracking down on people who use tampered save games and such and accessing files through your computer might be considering tampering..

A. Well your on the ball with lost odyssey long and great story but on 360 has 4 disks just a warning. It's hard to find a game with a sad story as you have to become connected to the character which makes it harder. I know you only RPG's but i reckon you should give the walking dead a go very good story and sad. Or darkness but if your looking for an RPG their slim pickings. Mass effect 1 2 3 all have great stories and can be sad. Dragon age 2 crap game play but decent story and if played certain ways is very sad.

A. Well there are amazing games out for the PS3. Here is what my list would look like.

1- Call of Duty 5 : world at war
2- Metal Gear Solid 4 (probably the best espionage/strategy game for the PS3)
3- Resistance 1 (first person shooter good plot line great game play)
4- Resistance 2 (sequel to the one above)
5- Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (one of the best adventure games for PS3 amazing graphics)

You can substitute out one of the above for like Fallout 3 and Farcry 2, I just didn't enjoy those games as much.

as for the consoles here is my view
360
Pros:
First off the online for 360 is superior to the PS3. It just seems as if more people use Live and its better organized and innovative. The games for the 360 are also good with obviously the main pushers being Halo 3, Gears of Wars 1/2, and some would say Fable II. If price is an issue than the 360 is half the price of the PS3. The issue of the Red Ring of Doom is evident but small and all you have to do is send it in so no big problem there.
Cons:
It is loud not to big of a problem though. It also hot again not a big problem. Even though i did say Red Ring is not a big deal it is still there. The Xbox is just not as well put together like the PS's. The line up for the games EXCLUSIVELY for the 360 is not nearly as impressive as the PS3's. Game wise the 360 loses this year. Graphics are not as good. You have to pay 17 bucks a month for live.

Bottom line - IMO the 360 is a solid console with solid games but if you don't plan to play a lot of online or play with your friends a lot than it loses it's advantage

Pro's:
First off graphics by far; just dead beat amazing and the 360 cannot touch it. Now a debatable point here is the games for the PS3. Many will probably disagree but the PS3 HAS the better games. Why? Because besides Gears and Halo, Xbox has lost a lot of it's exclusiveness and many games that are on the Box are also on the PS3's. The line up for PS3 kicks butt including, Resistance 2, God of War 3, Killzone 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Grand Turismo 5. Not to mention the possible future games such as Kingdom Hearts 3, future Final Fantasy's, Shadow of the Colossus 2, and rumors of a final Metal Gear Solid sequel. Sport games are universal now so if you play those than definitely the PS3 because of the graphics. Also IMO the PS3 is just built better and will probably last longer being the fact there has been no recall. Finally, some don't care, but the Blu-Ray player is such a huge plus and is underrated by far.
Cons:
It is more expensive. Also to FULLY experience the graphics (though either way they will be better) you will need a 1080 P TV running at 120 Hertz as well as an HDMI cable that is purchased separately.

Bottomline - Even though the PS3 is more expensive you get the bang for you buck as well as the game selection I feel is better.

A. I'd probably give the nod to Supreme Commander 2. The matches are much longer (a couple of hours) vs. short ones in Endwar (15-30 minutes), the graphics are better and the play is deeper. If you're an experienced RTS player, I think you'd enjoy SC2 more. If you're new to RTS, you might be better with Endwar. The voice command feature of Endwar is kind of cool, too.

Action/Shooters: Gears of War, Halo, Call of Duty, Mercenaries, Assassin's Creed.

Horror: Silent Hill, Left4Dead, Fatal Frame, Manhunt.

RPG: Fable (I prefer Fable II more, truthfully.), Fallout 3.

Really, it's a trial and error thing. Some games are said to be amazing, but end up being (In my opinion) boring and a waste of money. At the same time, there have been games that are said to be horrible, but I end up loving them.

A. 360 is definitely the better console. The xbox live can interact with your windows media center to play music and movies and you can stream movies via Netflix.

And in the interest of fairplay....(I can't believe I'm saying this).. the Playstation 3 is an excellent choice as part of an overall entertainment system. It has a blu ray player built in and it is the TOP rated player in the industry. Also the live gaming is free. On xbox live it's 50 a year.

However if your a gamer then it's still the 360 because they have the better games library HANDS DOWN.
I own both consoles and for the most part the PS3 collects dust since I'm always playing the 360

I know you were interested in the wii but unless you have younger children I just wouldn't reccomend it. It's a great game but I wouldn't have it as my primary console.

Q. I have recently been introduced to the torrent world. While looking around i saw that you can download Xbox 360 games. I have a Xbox 360 and i was wondering how you were to download a game and burn it to a disk and play it?

A. You have to have your system modified. Basically, someone reflashes the firmware on the 360's DVD drive so that it gets rid of the protection that normally does not allow the system to boot backup copies of games. You can probably find someone in your area on Craigslist.com to do it for you, I paid about $40 to get it done to mine.

Afterwards, you just download the game's ISO file, burn it to a DVD+R DL disc, and it works just like the original disc :)

Also, by far the easiest and fastest way to download games is to get a $10/mo Megashares account and download the games from forum links. The games are all around 7gb each, so torrents can be a pain, especially if its an older game with few seeders on it.

-Just a note: to the guy that said you can play them off of the hard drive, you can only do that with the original Xbox, not the 360.

A. Make sure your console isn't plugged into an overused power source. (Don't have one outlet taken up by seven devices.)

When you turn it on/off, don't HIT the button, just press it. As sturdy as it may look, it can be broken. It's best to turn off when you're at the game main menu. This decreases the chance of software glitches in the XBOX itself.

When changing discs, always (ALWAYS) press the eject button, NEVER force the tray in by hand. You'll strip the gears, and the drive will be wrecked. Make sure the disc is sitting right in the tray when you insert it, and never touch the disc's silver side.

And I cannot stress this point enough. Above all, whatever you do......Don't chuck a hissy fit and throw your controller at the console when you get fragged by a sniper in 'Halo 2'.

A. If you have a wireless router and an xbox 360, it is relatively easy and cheap to hook up. If you don't have a a router, then you need to get one, and can just hook up through an ethernet cord.

If you are in the situation that I was, my Xbox was downstairs, and my router was upstairs. I didn't want to shell out $100 for the Microsoft wireless adapter so I went without live for a few years. I have a laptop, and one day my friend asked me, "I wonder if you could connect to Xbox Live through your laptop?" So we played around with it and got it. For this setup, you need a laptop connected to a wireless router, an ethernet cord from your Xbox to your laptop, and you also have to bridge a local area connection to your wireless connection, which is super easy to do. You get a free month of Xbox Live once you register your gamertag, but after that you have to pay for it. IMO, way cheaper and easier than shelling out the money.

A. The new version called "Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion" will feature 2 more new characters and is scheduled to be released in Japanese game centers this December. Most probably, like the previous year with Tk6, Tk6BR will be released in international (including US) arcades shortly after.

Tk6 was to be released on the PS3 TV console by this Christmas, but delayed until late next year (Q3-Q4 2009). Sony lost it's proprietary rights to the Tekken series (along with a few other names like Square's Final Fantasy XIII and Capcom's Devil May Cry) recently to Microsoft's Xbox360.

A. Well obviously those games aren't meant to be played with a controller. There is one work around I think would work. There is an application called Xpadder, which you can use to basically control your PC. You can set up the the buttons and joysticks to be different key presses, so you may be able to figure out how to set it up the way you want. I don't know how well it would work, but it might be possible.

I'm not gonna walk you through a step by step of how to set up Xpadder, look it up on youtube, there are a few really good tutorials on how to get it set up.

You can purchase cards in a store or you can purchase points online on Xbox.com or using the 360 in a section of the interface called LIVE Marketplace. However, to do it through the 360 or at Xbox's website, you need to first log in with your boyfriend's account. Also, doing so would cause the points to immediately show up in his account, so you wouldn't be able to buy them one day and then "present" him with points later.

If your goal is to purchase a present for him, buying a card allows you to have something to wrap and put under a Christmas tree and doesn't require that you have any knowledge about your boyfriend's Xbox LIVE account.

A. You can only download Arcade Games, game add-ons (maps, songs, etc), game demos, etc on the Xbox Live Marketplace. You will need Xbox Live for this. Game demos are free, but arcade games, game add-ons, online strategy guides, and some media cost Microsoft Points (currency of Xbox Live which you can buy online on your Xbox or at a store). Xbox live is simple to set up. You need to have your Xbox connected to your modem, router, or you can have it wireless. To play wirelessly, you need to have Wi-Fi set up close to you and purchase a Xbox 360 Wireless adapter ($100). This is worth it in my opinion because you can play Xbox anywhere in the house without having to be limited to the length of a Ethernet cable connected to your modem. You can also stream music and videos from your computer to your Xbox wirelessly. Xbox Live is $50 for one full year plus an extra month for free. You can buy a prepaid card at any store that sells them, or register your credit card online and buy it from your Xbox.

A. I would say for the Wii to be sure to have the Wii Sports and Wii Sports resort since these are good quick games and everyone can play and jump in and out very easily. I would also suggest maybe having Mario Kart since that too is a fun game that most will enjoy. You could download some old school Mario games to the console as well. Mario party would be fun to have as well. Trivial pursuit may also be a good one or disney think.

PS3 I would suggest Modnation racers to be one game since it is a fun game for all. I would also suggest Little Big Planet because it can be fun for everyone to take turns creating together. A mild fighting game like Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe or Super Street Fighter would be good as well to have. Burnout Paradise would also be a good racing game that isn't so kiddy feeling though I don't think anyone minds that. The buzz games may also be fun to have.

Xbox 360 I would suggest Forza as a game and sega tennis can be fun as well. viva party animals is a good one too it works like mario party.

I think any of the rock bands or guitar heros would be good for any console, maybe getting a track pack if you know they all like a certain type of music. I would strongly suggest band hero and lego rock band since they are more kid friendly. I think any of the DDR games might be fun to have setup or American Idol even just for laughs. The scene it games are great too and if you only have one control for any of your consoles they come with their own so then you can now have four people playing at once. Racing games I think would easily appeal across the board and you can go with the ones I listed or any Need for Speed game, Cars Racing, Madagascar Cartz.

A. Well, in most cases and as of now it's all about bragging rights. But, I was playing Halo ODST at E3 and I was talking to a Bungie employee about certain maps and armor that will be available when the game comes out. He was explaining that players with certain achievements in Halo 3 will be awarded a type of armor and possibly maps when the game launches. I asked about the vidmaster achievements and he said amongst those ones (they're worth 0 points each) and some others combined will be a way to give people bonus items that others won't have.

It seems like an awesome idea. I'm guessing eventually more developers will find a way to actually reward players for these points that seem almost meaningless. Especially with so many achievement whores playing every Disney, Lego and movie game that comes out.

But, basically, as of now, they're just a way to showoff how good at games you are. A way to compare your achievements in titles versus your friends. I like it.
