Q. I have the orignal xbox 360. Its is frezzwing up an it occasional has the red ring with the three lights. I have tried every thing the towel trick which worked a day and thats it. My cheap parents refuse to let me ask my grandpa for a ps3 and said i must wait for one. I wanna play the video games now. But half way through when im playing a game it freezes up any tips?
A. red rings are only hardware faults and are fixable, the 3 red rings mean your xbox could be generating way too much heat (most common issue).
Inside the xbox you have the main components covered up by 'heat syncs' these take away the heat that is generated, underneath the heat syncs you have whats called 'thermal paste' which transfers the heat safely to the heat syncs. in your case the paste has probably gone rock solid. You need to replace the paste, remove it with an alcohol based substance and use brand new thermal paste to replace it.
I've seen someone get 2x cotton buds and stick them in the fans to prevent them from cooling, they left it for 5 minutes and it worked again, i'm not sure if it just melts the thermal paste back or it does something to the motherboard.
if your warranty is void the least you could do is try but understand most hardware faults are fixable. opening the xbox will void the warranty.

Q. In addition, what brands would you recommend? I have a $1500 budget and am looking for a 37 inch minimum flat screen to hang on my wall. Also, will video game usage (xbox 360,ps2, laptop connection, etc.) damage my screen and leave an imprint?

A. In my opinion, easily the PS3! i have had a ps3 for years. if you have internet and hook it up to your ps3, you can just do it. if you have a xbox 360 you have to pay for your internet ( like everyone) and pay to use your internet on your xbox and if you have wireless internet, you have to buy another product that comes separate from the xbox to play online games with your wireless internet. now if you dont have internet, buying a ps3 makes more sense just because, you never know if you will get internet. Also i must add that ps3 games are pretty much all next generation games. They are all popular and harder games. so if you like family games or cartoonish games, chance are ps3 prolly wont have it. Now abox has alot of kid and family games. thats prolly one of the few things people choose xbox over ps3. people use to always choose xbox over ps3 because xbox was cheaper but now there the same price. And PS3 was more money for a reason. Bottom line, PS3 has way more features. Its basicly a computer. when the commercials say PS3 does everything, THEY MEAN EVERYTHING!!!
